  RNLI LYTHAM ST ANNES STATION
On June 4th 2000 a re-dedication ceremony was held on the promenade at St Annes close to the "Mexico" Memorial.
On the 9th of December in 1886 three Lifeboats from St Annes, Southport and Lytham launched to the assistance of the Hamburg trading Barque "Mexico".
Lytham luckily survived and rescued the Captain and crew off the "Mexico", only to launch again later to go and look for the missing St Annes Lifeboat.

Lytham St Annes is a town in the Fylde district of Lancashire, England.
St Annes is situated on the northern side of the turning and, like Blackpool, overlooks the Irish Sea, whereas Lytham is on the eastern side and overlooks the Ribble estuary.
Lytham St Annes is internationally renowned for golf, and has four courses, the most notable being the Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Club, one of the host courses for the British Open championships.

The twin towns of Lytham and Saint Annes are nowadays jointly referred to as Lytham St Annes as their separate boundaries are virtually indistinguishable, although residents may beg to differ, for old loyalties die hard.
Lytham is a quieter, less commercially developed resort when compared to its immediate northern neighbour, Blackpool, and for this reason it is much favoured by older people and those who seek a more peaceful seaside experience.

A lifeboat station was established at St Annes in 1881, a lifeboat house being built in which to house the boat.
The worst disaster in lifeboat history happened when on the 9th December 1886 the Lytham, St Annes and Southport lifeboats were launched to the aid of the "Mexico" of Hamburg, which was in distress off Southport.
After the disaster a second larger lifeboat was sent to St Annes, this boat was kept afloat at the end of the pier at St Annes, a boarding boat being used to board the lifeboat.
