And now it is being said we have the Lebel 86/93 but appears to not act as such a weapon?
Currently, the MODEL for the french rifle is a Lebel Mle 1886/93 as you stated.
The Lebel Rifle existed in two or three forms from the time it was introduced into service with the French army until it was replaced with the MAS Mle.

It is basically a scaled up version of the Pak 38 but some changes were made to reduce the use of critical materials, the Pak 38 had used many light weight alloys, these were replaced with steel in the Pak 40 resulting in a heavier weapon.
The 7.5cm Pak 97 / 38 was a modification of the French 75mm Mle 97 field gun mounted on the carriage of the Pak 38.
The Pak 38 was first used in the invasion of the Soviet Union where it was the only gun available which could defeat the T-34, it was replaced by the 7.5cm Pak 40 but remained in front line service until the end of the war.
