 MUNDO MAYA : Yucatan

In particular, I focus on the PAN's experiences in three important cases of local government; León (Guanajuato), Mérida (Yucatán), and Tijuana (Baja California); cases which are fairly representative of the party's recent electoral successes and which are representative of Mexico's three major regions (north, center, and south-east).
PAN activism in Baja California dates back well beyond the party's first recognized municipal triumph in Ensenada in 1986 and its clear predominance in the state since 1989.
The PAN's first successes in Mérida came after nearly two decades of virtual non-existence as the party languished in the wake of the fraud and repression of the 1969 gubernatorial elections stolen from the party's first mayor of Mérida, Victor Correa Racho.
