M22 Locust - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The crew of three consisted of the commander and gunner in the turret, and the driver in the hull.
The M22 was developed in 1941 by the Marmon-Herrington Corporation as an air-transportable light tank.
As the British had the Hamilcar glider which was big enough to carry the M22 ready for battle, they took the vehicles over, and the British 6th Airborne Division used it in 1945 crossing the Rhine in Operation Varsity.

 M22 AIRBORNE LIGHT TANK "LOCUST"
The M22 was constructed of steel plate using welding as opposed to riveting technology.
Riveted construction methods had long since fallen from favor because of the disastrous propensity of rivets to bounce around inside the vehicle when the outside rivet head was sheared by anti-tank munitions.
After the war, the M22 tanks were considered surplus and marked for disposal.

A third explanation is that the M22 was used at the end or after the war as a target for small arms practise, and that the markings had been applied for aiming.

Restoring the M22 Locust - Jalopnik
While Civil War re-enactors seem to get all of the attention, there are a number of people around the country who are into the higher-priced world of World War II re-enactment.
Here we have the restoration of an M22 Locust, a light tank developed by the US, but primarily used by British forces (due to their easy deployability via the Hamilcar glider).
Found in a Midwestern field, the tank's repurposed Lycoming aero engine was yanked in favor of a cheaper Cadillac 346-inch flathead, and the turret had to be built from scratch.

The M22 was never used in combat by the American Forces, mainly because they lacked suitable glider or transport aircraft to carry it.
The British were designing the Hamilcar glider to carry the Tetrarch light tank (qv) in the airbourne role and this also proved capable of carrying the M22, later named the 'Locust'.
A large number of M22's were supplied to the British under lend-lease for airbourne operations and a handful of these were landed by Hamilcar glider in the Rhine crossing operation by the British 6th Airbourne Division, March 24, 1945.

Prediction: sometime in 2007 I'll open a booster from set 5 and get an M22 Locust as my rare, a Schwimmwagen as my uncommon vehicle, and my 12th Yugoslav Partisans as one of my commons, and I'll kick myself for not buying more of the first set.
So I'll probably end up buying several cases, but it won't be enough.
This will probably be the first game I buy a case of, I'm definetly getting a case though.
