When entering the motorway from the north, off the easterly A6177, a slip road was built in 1999, that leads to a small roundabout, from where traffic now goes under the former-disused dual-grade intersection, with another slip road joining from the roundabout, for the westerly A6177 traffic.
In 2007, the UK's first carsharing lane on a motorway is to be built from the M606 Southbound allowing passengers with more than one person in the car a fast track onto the M62 Eastbound at Junction 26.
The motorway is downhill and immaculately straight from Staygate down to Chain Bar; a fact not lost on motorbikers wishing to further their experience of high speeds.

The building of the M62 between Rochdale and Huddersfield, crossing the Pennines, is considered to have been one of the most daring road construction projects to have taken place in England due to the nature of the terrain.

At the highest point of the motorway, the road divides into two to negotiate the hilly terrain, and a farm, built in 1737, is situated in between the two halves.

The contract which included the construction of ¾ mile of the M606 motorway and a similar length of the M621 was started in June 1970 and completed in December 1972.
Six of the bridges which carry the motorway are of standard construction, having pre-cast prestressed I-beams, from the Fairclough Factory, with in situ reinforced concrete deck slabs, and reinforced mass concrete abutments with forward sloping front faces.
The bridge carrying the M606 over the interchange was built to a plan radius of 749 ft. and consists of four simply supported spans of 40, 86, 105 and 43 ft. Structural steel longitudinal plate girders at 6ft.

Sharp bends, unfinished junctions with M606 J3 as the strangest junction.
This was called the "Aire Valley Motorway" which ran from Glusburn (on the line of the current A629) by-passing Keighley, Bingley and Shipley.
