The M9 bulldozer kit (not the M9 Armored Combat Earthmover) for the M60 and the M113 dozer kit are manufactured on an as‑needed basis.
The M9 was type classified in 1977, but the program subsequently had problems in gaining congressional support.  Attempts to fund 155 vehicles in Fiscal 1980 came to naught when Congress zeroed the funding line, and the Army was again set back in Fiscal 1981 due to budget pressures.
In 1995, a decision was made to assemble the M9 Armored Combat Earthmover under license in the Republic of Korea.  The contractor is Samsung Aerospace.  The procurement objective is 207 vehicles.
