		The purpose of the study was to develop a better understanding of regional air pollution in the Sydney, Illawarra, and Hunter regions, where approximately 70% of the population of NSW lives.
		In the Greater MAQS Region the greatest contribution of NOx emissions came from industry, which contributed 52% of the total, with 35% coming from the power-generation industry.
		Mobile sources were the major contributors of CO in both the Greater MAQS Region (69%) and the Sydney Metropolitan Region (91%), with most of the mobile emissions originating from motor vehicles.

	Pinsents’ Scandinavian ally expands Baltic reach - 4 December 2003
		Pinsents’ Scandinavian alliance partner Magnusson Wahlin Qvist Stanbrook (MAQS) has struck a cooperation deal with Finnish top 10 firm Krogerus & Co. The strategic alliance, seen by both Nordic firms as a prelude to a full merger, was signed on 20 November.
		Dan Person, MAQS managing director, said the deal was a "natural step" in the evolution of his firm, which has offices in Sweden, Denmark, Estonia and Poland.
		MAQS was formed on 1 October 2002 by the merger of Swedish Magnusson Wahlin Advokatbyrå and Danish Qvist Stanbrook Advokataktieselskab.

		MAQS currently operates offices in Denmark, Estonia, Sweden and Poland, but is aiming to launch in Latvia, Lithuania and Moscow by January 2005.
		Although Finnish big-hitter Roschier Holmberg has already established an alliance with firms in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and other local firms have their own Baltic alliances in place, no international firm has launched such a targeted assault on the region.
		Established in 2002 after a merger between Danish outfit Qvist Stanbrook and Swedish firm Magnusson Wahlin, MAQS has progressed to become a leading light in the Nordic legal market, boasting 128 lawyers.

		The recipients were selected from applicants across the country on the basis of their current work and activity, their eagerness to explore quiltmaking to develop technical and aesthetic skills, and their financial need.
		The Shannon-Ross Scholarship Program was established by an initial donation from Jonathan Shannon and Jeffrey Ross of San Francisco, Calif., which was matched by co-founders Bill and Meredith Schroeder.
		Applications for scholarships are reviewed twice each year by MAQS and are due Jan. 15 and July 15.
