Exclusive Interview with MAX at  DVD Vision Japan
In an exclusive interview, the members of MAX talk about their experiences in America, who their influences are, and why family plays a big part in their success.
MAX: It would maybe way before our time but you know we are fans of “Urusei Yatsura” from “Rumiko Takahashi” so I don’t know, so maybe one of our songs would have been nice for that.
MAX: This was our first time to perform live in Dallas, and we feel very glad that everyone welcomed us with warm hearts and open arms.

Max - Anime Convention Personalities of the Week - Oct. 24, 2004
The four members of Max were brought to the U.S. by Avex as part of that Japanese company's campaign to spread J-pop to America, and fans at the AnimeFEST convention were the lucky beneficiaries of that decision.
At AnimeFEST, Max hit the stage and took only two brief breaks during their 50-minute show - once to chat with the audience, and once to change from cute pastel dresses into replicas of Dallas pro sports jerseys.
They gave an enthusiastic Texas audience the sort of vibrant song-and-dance performance that seems to have disappeared from U.S. rock, but is a major part of the J-pop style.

MAX - J-POP GIG TOUR 1997 DVD Review by Dennis A. Amith
This came out when MAX was the hottest female dance group in JPOP.
Anyway, there are other MAX concert DVD's available and this one features MAX when they were younger and the hit songs from their first album and second album, so it has that real hyper-euro feel to it.
If you like MAX, especially want to check out their concert, remember that this is their first (note: although they did appear on the AVEX VELFARRE LD beforehand).

MAX-MAXIMUM CD review.  DVD VISION JAPAN (DVD VISION)
Nana, Mina, Reina, and Lina are MAX; one of the biggest J-Pop groups of all time.
Their first album, MAXIMUM marks the rise of these musical darlings of Japanese pop culture.
While this may not be unusual for American pop songs, most J-POP songs don't do that.

Epinions.com - Advice for the beginning J-Pop Fan
Various trends in pop music in the US have mirrors in Japan.
The second album was not bad, but this was the first album where Max was finally starting to shed their Eurodance beginnings.
One of my guilty pleasures, I am indeed a Max fan, which is almost like being a Spice Girls fan but not quite as bad.

 OkinawanMusic.org: J-Pop
MAX is set to release their latest single, "Be With You" (AVCD-30596), on Wednesday, June 30th.
Beni started as a member of the Oscar Pro (her management company) unit Bishoujo Club 31 and made her solo debut this June on the same record label as Amuro, MAX, SPEED (individual members and group) and DA PUMP: Avex with the song "Harmony" (AVCD-30603).
Speaking of Churasan, Gorie (the other half of the comedic duo Garage Sale) is at the top of the pop charts with his single "Mickey" (yes, the Tony Basil cheerleader song), and even filmed the PV in Hawaii.

As of this writting, they still have some of the "MAX collection" picturebook's.

 J-Pop @ MAMBA's Humiliation
The term J-pop doesn't simply refer to the Japanese style pop music; rather, it covers a variety of genres in the Japanese music world from the cutesy tunes of Pucchimoni to the soulful RandB stylings of Misia to boybands such as SMAP and Da Pump and various other "pop" acts.
Formerly known as the "Super Monkeys" when they served as backup singers for Amuro Namie, MAX managed to escape from the shadow of Namie's popularity and become a stellar group.
For those of you unfamiliar with the term "J-pop", it is simply an easy way for saying "Japanese pop music".

Namie Aumro - Princess of J-Pop - Japan Gallery - W. Dire Wolff
Looking back at Japanese Pop Music (J-POP) in the 1990's, it is impossible to overlook the influence of Namie Amuro.
Similar to trends in America and England, pop music in Japan dominates the commercial music channels, yet fails to hold the interest of more serious or underground music listeners.
As the girls matured, they slowly moved away from their snappy pop roots and took a greater influence from the increasing popularity of modern techno music.

MAX: PRECIOUS COLLECTION 1995-2002 (Japan Version) - YesAsia.com
An awesome album containing all the hits from Max since their beginning to their most recent single, "Spring Rain." This is a double CD, jam-packed with close to two hours of straight MAX since their debut years!
You may have read in another review that "MAX is not for everybody." Well, perhaps, but the two CDs differ from each other greatly.
For MAX collectors - there are no new songs here, so nothing too special.

 Japan Forum - Max
Just watched most Max's videos from the past 10 years.
Before Max were Max they were background singers/dancers for Namie Amuro under the Supermonkies name, so there's a good chance you have seen them.
I never realized who cute Max girls were until last night.

 Sonata of Twilight
Well, I had these pictures of Max from when we went to the movies, and Jess scanned them.
Since Max's locker is -quote unquote- conveniently next to mine, and since I conveniently had a pencil, we started writing all over his locker.
If Max had his guitar, or didn't put his trumpet away so soon...

MAX : Maximum Groove Soundtrack - Music from Anime Castle
That particular track was used as an outro song for the group MAX's own television show aired in Japan.
So, if you like J-POP (but don't really listen to the words -- because you don't know what they are saying -- and just like the music) it's a great album to add to your collection.
Ride on time (track 8) is awesome, I heard this song for the first time when I was stationed over in Japan and I can't get it out of my head.
