		Tablature is an excellent way in which to put guitar compositions and arrangements onto paper for learning and teaching purposes, and also to enable you to remember tunes from one year to the next, a definite factor if a tune isn't played for a year or two.
		Using normal/conventional music notation, every time you change the tuning on your guitar you then have to re-learn the notes on the fingerboard to be able to find them when they are being read from the dots on the printed page.
		Tablature is no different no matter what the tuning; it still shows the fret numbers which show where you are to put your fingers of your fretting hand (left for most of us!) onto the guitar neck/fretboard.

		Format is notorious for his fascination with classic breakbeats utilising 70's funk basslines, uptempo b-boy breaks, turntablist scratches and comedic samples all held together with an element of having fun and rocking the dancefloor.
		As fans of J5 have come to expect the two MC's deliver feel good lyrics, harmonising vocals as Format lays down a funky guitar-and-bassline-in-unison riff with well placed cuts and scratches for good measure.
		Black Cloud is a much more laidback effort and harks back to slow rocking 70s rock tunes featuring a moody vocal sample, catchy bassline riff, soundtrack style strings and a funky guitar lick heavy on the wah-wah.

		BTW, the first (and worst) appearance of MC on a movie soundtrack that I know of was his version of a dreadful tune called "Rock On" (written, I believe, by Giorgio Moroder) which appeared on (drumroll, please) the Superman III soundtrack.
		MC is apparently a big Rick fan, and I've always thought of MC as Ricky and James Burton wrapped up in one.
		Saw MC perform "I Fought the Law" in East Lansing, MI a few years back (it was shouted out from the audience as a request.) Robert and Graham Maby were playing with MC (my God, what a trio that was) and their rendition was fantastic.

		Home of the Brave, ostensibly a selection of tunes from the soundtrack of the eponymous Anderson performance movie, is less successful in maintaining that balance.
		The somewhat sombre lyrical material tends to lack the surreal bite of her best work: the sentiment of "Statue of Liberty" and the melancholy imagery of "Washington Street" may be heartfelt but come across as nearly banal.
		What I discovered is that anyone can call their tunes progressive rock, even if that doesn't mean to them what it means to those of us who read the GEPR.
