The unsettled question about the establishment of a commercial airport at the current El Toro MCAS is a doubled edge sword.
First, it has the potential for future pressure to be applied to John Wayne Airport for a greater number of flights, and secondly the south County effort to exclude an airport shows that the community of Orange County is still divided over what it wants to be when it grows up.
Opponents to an airport at the MCAS are myopic in their thinking...they still see their lives as separate from the rest of us in Orange County and appear not to be willing to meet the future with an attitude of joint participation in the fabric of Orange County.
