The aim of Museums Emergency Program (MEP) Education Initiative is the protection of cultural heritage through the enhanced capacity of museum and other heritage professionals in risk assessment, and emergency preparedness and response (or integrated emergency management) taking into account community interests, as well as local contexts, traditions, and methods.
MEP is a strategic, multi-year project that aims to assist museum and other heritage professionals to assess, prepare for, and respond to natural and human-made threats.
For this reason, MEP is developing an education model that encompasses capacity-building over a longer period of time, combining classroom-based workshops with a program of coordinated and mentored activities that participants will carry out at their own institutions.
