		In the years past, the Congress has often attempted to terminate or restrict China's MFN status by means of joint resolutions disapproving the annual extension of China's waiver or by specific legislation, or subject its continuation in force to additional conditions, primarily in the area of human rights.
		Denial of China's MFN status, in whichever manner brought about, would have to be implemented also with having regard of two relevant provisions of the U.S.-China trade agreement, addressing specifically the discontinuance of the agreement or of any of its provisions.

		Certain members of Congress continue to oppose MFN for China, arguing that is one of the primary means we have for exerting influencing on China.
