In the late ’80s, ARG was renamed as the Rover Group and revived the two-seater with the MG RV8, then in 1995 introduced the all-new MGF (redesigned and relaunched as the TF, reviving an old MG name).
Project Kimber is the acquisition group, run by David James, that lost out to Nanjing in the bidding for the remains of MG Rover in 2005.

Rover had hoped the deal with SAIC would generate cash to allow it to introduce new models and stem the falling sales of its current makes.

About 100 wives and children of MG Rover workers arrived in buses at 10 Downing Street just after midday Wednesday to protest the possible closure of the company's Longbridge plant in Birmingham, central England.
The protest comes as administrators warned that owners of MG Rover cars could find their repair warranties invalid because of a lack of funds.
