The official style system used by the School of Humanities at Flinders University is that of the Modern Humanities Research Association, or MHRA.
Please note that MHRA style differs to varying degrees from those systems used in study skills texts often recommended to students, such as Iain Hay, Dianne Bochner, Carol Dungey, Making the Grade: A Guide to Successful Communication and Study (Melbourne: Oxford University Press, 1997).

This guide is based on recommendations of the fifth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Assocation published by the American Psychological Association (2001).
If online guides like this one — and other summaries of APA style in composition textbooks, etc. — do not suffice, students should purchase the APA Publication Manual for their own use (approximately $27 for the recommended spiral-bound edition) or borrow it from a library.
