People are nice everywhere, but there always were some weird silences when I went to other dorms: once the basic questions were asked (where are you from, where are you temped, what do you want to major in, do you like MIT so far), it seems there was nothing else to play.
That's not the case in East Campus: people (from all the floors I've seen so far) are always glad to chat with you about random things (what to do with a hamster dead since March, Law and Order, how to elevate a floor, what crazy things are being built for Rush, etc.).
People always seem very happy to see you and glad that they can share some of your passions with you.

 UWM Copy: The cgiemail home page
This is a local copy of the MIT cgiemail home page that corresponds to the version (1.6) we use at UWM.
It is advantageous to give it away, because people outside MIT are often the best testers of the software.

At MIT there are two kinds of advisors, academic advisors and thesis advisors.
MIT in general gives its students a lot more freedom than most schools can afford to.
It's important to get a variety of people who will regularly review your work, because it's very easy to mislead yourself (and often your advisor as well) into thinking you are making progress when you are not, and so zoom off into outer space.

From my school, 2 people (breaking a 7 year trend of no Pton acceptances) were accepted at Princeton, both girls...1 is valedictorian of my class who sent in phenomenal artwork and won national awards for piano.
Yet, loads of people in my class applied to these 3 schools w/ better stats than the people who got in...some even had what seemed like better extracurricular activities.

He is currently serving as the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT.
Grimson currently heads the Computer Vision Group of MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, which has pioneered state of the art systems for activity and behavior recognition, object and person recognition, image database indexing, image guided surgery, site modeling and many other areas of computer vision.
Grimson is a Fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), a Fellow of the IEEE, and was awarded the Bose Award for Excellence in Teaching in the School of Engineering at MIT.
