	MK 108 cannon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The MK 108 (German: Maschinenkanone - Machine Cannon) was an autocannon (30 mm calibre) manufactured in Germany during World War II by Rheinmetall-Borsig for use in aircraft.
		The MK 108 was quickly ordered into production and was installed in a variety of Luftwaffe fighter aircraft, including the Messerschmitt Bf 109, Focke-Wulf Fw 190, Heinkel He 219, Messerschmitt Me 163, and Messerschmitt Me 262.
		The MK 108 was also fitted to night fighters in an unusual installation, called "Schräge Musik" (German: "Jazz Music", literally "slanting music").

		When I have used my Focke Wulf with 2 mk 108's it does not appear to be so acurate even though I have 2 of the cannons!.
		If I can separate them from the melee and have gotten a mk 108 strike, then I'll either let them limp back home no longer a threat or I'll climb away and set up for the killing blow.
		You're right, though, in that it may still take 2-3 108 hits to down a P51 but I find that 1 is usually enough to disable it from causing me any more trouble.

		Development of the Messserschmitt 262 had begun in 1938 and the first prototype flew in April 1941.
		In July 1942 if flew with two Jumo 004 turbojets under the wings, eventually recieving a tricycle landing gear, full combat equipment and the devastating armament of four 30-mm MK 108 cannon.
		Production was scheduled to get under way in 1943, but allied bombing, and Hitler's insistence that all the Me 262s should be used as bombers instead of fighters, seriously delayed deliveries.
