The Birmingham, Mich. native appeared in 110 MLS games, starting 108, and is the only player to be on the winning side of every MLS All-Star game (1996 and 1997 with the Eastern Conference, 1998 with the MLS USA side and 1999 with the Western Conference).
His last MLS goal, a diving header against the Dallas Burn on September 19 which tied the game at 1-1 in the 86th minute, is the leading Wizards candidate for the 1999 “Goal of the Year.”
He was traded to the Kansas City Wizards from the MetroStars on January 28, and played in 30 games for K.C., winning the team's “Defensive Player of the Year” honors and finishing the year with his highest point total in his MLS career (four goals and one assist).
