MMT - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The MMT (Multiple Mirror Telescope) is a 6.5-meter telescope located on the summit of Mount Hopkins, in the Santa Rita Mountains in southern Arizona.
The telescope is operated by the MMT Observatory, a joint venture of the Smithsonian Institution and the University of Arizona located on the grounds of the Whipple Observatory.
The MMT operated between 1987 (when its construction was completed) and 1998 with 6 mirrors, each with a diameter of 1.8 meters, providing in total the equivalent gathering area of a 4.5-meter telescope.

MMT (methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl) is a fuel additive that has recently been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use in unleaded gasoline in the United States.
Nearly 20 years of MMT use in Canada have not indicated that the exposure of the general population to manganese through the air or from the soil has increased.
In cities where MMT is used, however, the level of ambient manganese is not significantly different from that in cities where MMT is not used.

Bill Keel's Telescope Life List - MMT Observatory   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-19)
MMT originally stood for Multiple-Mirror Telescope, made from what amounted to 6 independent 1.8-m telescopes on a single mount bringing light to a common (very small, because of differently tilted light paths) focal plane.
Now that the MMT (with the same acronym but different words, now it's Magnum Mirror so they wouldn't need new stationery) is going into service as a 6.5m single-mirror instrument, we are starting a multiband imaging project to search for high-redshift galaxies and particularly survey clustering in the early Universe.
The MMT was first touted as a path to new telescope technology, using laser metrology to constantly align the individual mirrors and give the equivalent light grasp of a 4.5m telescope at a fraction of the cost of traditional designs.

Greg understands MMT to indicate the priests in power at Jerusalem "separated" from the "multitude of the people" (the "rabble" as it were).
But MMT indicates that the entirety of Jerusalem (not just the temple) was the "camp," and as such subject to higher levels of purity.
My model (not original to me, obviously) is that the authors of MMT were critical of those currently in control of the temple, and were sectarians in the sense of having separated themselves from the Jerusalem temple cult.

It remains that the evidence relating to a negative impact of MMT use on emissions of hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide, and consequently on the Canadian environment, is contradictory, inconclusive and speculative.

Comments on the Gasoline Additive MMT (methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl) - OTAQ - EPA
MMT is allowed in U.S. gasoline at a level equivalent to 1/32 grams per gallon manganese (gpg Mn).
After completing a risk evaluation in 1994 on the use of MMT in gasoline, EPA was unable, based on the available data, to determine if these is a risk to the public health from exposure to emissions of MMT gasoline.
More specifically, modeling indicates that, as a result of MMT use in unleaded gasoline, certain portions of the population may be exposed to levels in the same range as the Reference Concentration (RfC or safe level for a lifetime exposure with an order of magnitude uncertainty).
