I have spent four of the best years of my life at MUICT (then known as UDCT) and I can firmly say that I never saw any indication of any bias against any student regardless of their caste, religion, sex or abilities while I was there.
As far as the Paranjpe/Jagtap committee’s findings are concerned, I need to get hold of a more detailed version of it to comment.

At the age of 27 years, he was appointed Professor of Chemical Engineering in the University of Mumbai, Department of Chemical Technology.
He later went on to become the Director of MUICT, the first chemical engineering professor to do so from MUICT.
In 1990, he became the first Indian engineer to be elected as a Fellow of Royal Society, UK.

The SDC Mumbai region held a lecture on 28th January 2005 at the old auditorium, MUICT, on the subject of ‘Textile Processing/Dyeing Machinery at India-ITME 2004 – a showcase.’ The speaker for the evening was Dr G P Nair, senior textile advisor.
The attention to detail and the wide coverage of the entire gamut of printing and dyeing machinery in the limited time frame were the salient features of this most memorable presentation.
This was followed by the investiture of Mr Ullhas Nimkar as the Vice-President of SDC India, and the awarding of a graduate degree to Mr Edward Menezes of Rossari.

I was a student of MUICT, then known as UDCT.
Clarification: I didn’t call reserved category students “dumb.” That word is reserved for students who need to retake an exam again and again and again.
In this it appears that there is in-justice on the general students but then if you are agreeing with the reservation policy then i think it is fare.

J B Joshi is excited about August 21, when he will board a plane for the United States.
Joshi is director of the Mumbai University Institute of Chemical Technology (MUICT), Matunga, which just signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with three prestigious American universities to develop technologies aimed at scaling up two areas—the unorganised food sector and the pharma industry’s usage of medicinal plants.
Joshi is excited because the partnership will push the use of indigenous medicinal plants in India from the current 2 per cent to at least 33 per cent and develop technology that gives small-scale food units the low cost structures that can make them competitive enough for larger markets.

Scientists at the Mumbai University Institute of Chemical Technology (MUICT) have claimed to develop a mass cooking device that can cook three to four dishes for over 500 persons at a time saving 75 per cent fuel.
The 120 litre Bachat cooker – also called Ecocooker, can be a boon to hundreds of schools and canteens in the country, MUICT director J M Joshi said here.
Developed by MUICT in collaboration with the Land Research Institute (LRI), the cooker is serving MUICT’s canteen and provides food for 500 people.
