The upper floor has always been used to store the college muniments, the ground floor was probably the original bursary.
The fact that the Muniment Room was built above a vaulted arch suggests that the range of buildings to the south was either planned at the time of the original design or replaced an existing building.

Merely probating of a will in the absence of an administration ought to be sufficient under §94 to establish the owners of the decedent's property, much the same as the owners of the decedent's property will be established by the statutes of intestate descent and distribution if a will is not probated.
Thus, if more that four years have elapsed, a Muniment of Title proceeding may still be available, even though an administration would be foreclosed, if the applicant can be shown not to have been in default in failing to offer the will for probate within the four year period.
If a judgment declaring heirship is entered, third parties are doubly protected: (1) they may rely that the parties named in the judgment are the persons legally entitled to the decedent's estate, and perhaps just as importantly, (2) they may rely that the property is not subject to the decedent's debts.

Probate as a muniment of title is a procedure that allows you to file a will with the probate court for the sole purpose of establishing your right to the property passing under the will.
According to Texas law, the order admitting the will to probate as a muniment of title constitutes sufficient legal authority for banks, transfer agents, brokerage houses or other businesses holding assets of the estate to pay those assets to the person named in the will.
You should note that some non-Texas brokerage firms and transfer agents will disregard muniment of title orders and demand that an executor be appointed before the assets in the deceased's accounts are distributed.
