		I have seen the effect on almost every DVD I have tested in the last couple of weeks and I just discovered that the pumping will continue when the player is paused on a scene (for some reason I assumed it was synched with the data stream).
		I was under the impression the MV wasn't connection type specific, that it would show up regardless of composite/S-video/component (I could easily be mistaken on this in that, as I say, I haven't had to deal with this before).
		Sorry, I thought you were saying that you wouldn't see MV pumping simply because of the connection type (component) - I missed that what you were saying was that BECAUSE of the connection type you weren't passing it through the VB50 (although you CAN pass component through the DB15/VGA port on the VB50...

		If the player detects the MV flag on a disc, it is supposed to impart the MV signal on it's outputs.
		It is possible to do a hardware mod to the Pioneer to remove MV, I have a DV525 that was modified at the shop before I bought it.
		If you do a comprehensive web search you will find many sites that list the various players that can be hacked, either with the remote or by changing the hardware.

		Since the fix is from Sampo and Sampo is not supporting the multiregion upgrade, I assume that the skip fix would not incorporate those features.
		Conversely, if one applies the fix, then goes back and reflashes for the multiregion upgrade, it seems to me that that would entail overwriting the fix.
		The "unofficial" firmware is based on the original July firmware, so I suspect that the problem firmware is probably the September version, hence explaining why some people have been able to instal the unofficial firmware and cure the skipping problem.

		The 'upgrade' consists of a few button presses on the remote, so it's not anything you should be willing to pay extra for unless you are afraid of remotes ;) MV disable is a different story.
