By expanding the area of investigation the team found out that the vehicle was drawn to the place where it was buried, after having been squashed with a heavy construction machine: parts kept falling off while the vehicle was dragged.
The vehicle was hit from the front left side, that is from the ditch by the road and, in principle, it was heading towards Serbian positions, which doesn't have to mean anything due to the confusion that was present and the moving of the front line during those days.
This whole story and the fact that the buried vehicle was found near the territory of the Serbian village of Kukuruzari does not necessarily point to the conclusion that the Russian journalists were shot by the Serbs; one can only conclude that the car was dragged and buried by the Serbs.

The early years of Majur Samuel’s life were spent growing up in Sudan’s southern city of Juba, during the country’s last period of peace, which lasted from 1972 to 1983.
Although Samuel’s parents made their living cultivating crops and raising cattle outside of Juba, they decided their son would be better off living with his aunt in the city, where he could attend school and eventually receive a university education.
Although Majur had survived his stay at the ghost house, he knew that the police would probably come back for him—only the next time he would not leave the ghost house alive.
However, as peace edges nearer in southern Sudan and life in the UNHCR settlement draws closer to an end, women like Dau wonder if the democratic freedoms they enjoy under the agency's protection will continue when they return to Sudan.
Majur says that most of the men who have spent time in UNHCR settlements would be keen to see this way of thinking continue in Sudan, but admits there is still more work to do to and it all begins with education.
