Mac MacLeod was a peripheral but interesting part of the British folk and folk-rock scene in the '60s.
MacLeod also played some mid-\'60s live shows with Donovan as an accompanying guitarist, including an early (for Donovan) appearance with a full band in April 1965 as part of the New Musical Express Poll Winners Concert in London.
MacLeod never did release any material with Hurdy Gurdy in the \'60s, and continuing his unpredictable course, he formed a band with another British cult folky, Mick Softley (who had written some material that Donovan recorded in his early days).

  RPM Records : Mac MacLeod
Mac Macleod's incredible musical journey starts in the smokey folk clubs of the early sixties, where he appeared alongside Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Maddy Prior (as Mac & Maddy), Mick Softley (as Soft Cloud) and Donovan.
Mac's journey was to take him around Britain, and across Sweden and Denmark, where he first formed Hurdy Gurdy.
Their brand of swirling folk-blues can be heard on The Cuckoo and Donovan's Season Of The Witch, while Mac's new take of Hurdy Gurdy Man is nothing short of brilliant. In the 60's the press were fond of claiming that Donovan's influences were Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie.
