The MacArthur Maze in the U.S. city of Oakland, California is a freeway interchange next to the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
The MacArthur Maze was originally constructed as part of the construction of the Bay Bridge.
The MacArthur Maze is one of the busiest freeway interchange complexes in the United States since traffic going to San Francisco from all of the cities and communities on the East Bay converge into that area.

In September 1955, the routing was moved (from the Nimitz Freeway, CA 17) to a proposed MacArthur Freeway, which was eventually built.
Between I-80 and I-238, it's called the MacArthur Freeway, after General Douglas MacArthur of WW II and the Korean War.

On the down side (and this is a very down side), one section of the eastbound 580 to 80 bridges (on the IKEA side) has collapsed, and other maze bridges may collapse later today as well.
The truck exploded on the westbound 80 to southbound 880 interchange, and the heat caused the bridge above it (Bay Bridge to E-580) to collapse in on itself.
No doubt to replace this, the other parts of the maze need to be closed, which can only be done early in the morning.
