 Made With MacZoop
To use MacZoop, you'll need to obtain a modern C++ development environment and compiler- CodeWarrior Pro is recommended, but MPW, Project Builder, or an earlier version of CodeWarrior is fine too.
Because of the way MacZoop is continuously developed, it is very rare for a beta (or even alpha) version to be seriously unstable.
Before downloading MacZoop, please be sure to read the terms and conditions.

Macworld: News: MacZoop 2.5 now out -- and it's free
MacZoop 2.5 is fully Appearance Manager savvy and has a new dialog layer that's completely built on views.
Fully Carbon compliant, MacZoop's source will compile to classic 68K and Power PC, Carbon for Mac OS 8 and 9, and Mac OS X. The update also has built-in tooltip support, a new text class (all editing is now fully undoable), and a new list interface class.
MacZoop is now MPW compliant right out of the box; it no longer requires changes to the code to use MPW.

Originally written in an extended (object-oriented) version of Pascal, it was later rewritten in C++.
Other popular frameworks for the Mac include Metrowerks Powerplant[?] and MacZoop (all based on Carbon).
A different approach to an application framework is Cocoa for Mac OS X.

MacZoop was a valuable exercise in developing code for general purpose, wide use, and in supporting a product publicly.
The reusability and clarity of source is something that I endeavour to carry over into my Cocoa-based work to this day - in fact the elegance of Objective-C and the Cocoa architecture make this more straightforward than it ever was with C++.

MacZoop is probably why there are no plans for a Windows port.
There is an active and, most importantly, musically productive SuperCollider community around the world, and there is an archive of open-source SC code (open source code in the SC language for SC pieces or instruments, as opposed to SC internals).
