In the News (Thu 16 Feb 12)

Macabre - Biography - AOL Music
Though Macabre was one of the first bands to ever experiment with the themes and songwriting that would eventually become widely known as death metal, the group remained primarily an underground band.
Macabre then released the Night Stalker 7" on high-profile U.S. label Relapse and signed to another high-profile death metal label, Nuclear Blast, in 1992, which led to the release of their most-recognized and well-known release to date, Sinister Slaughter (an album basing each of its songs on different psychopaths).
After a few years of off-and-on activity without any releases where the band experimented with satirical "unplugged" shows, Macabre returned in 1999 with the Unabomber EP on Decomposed Records, which featured alternate versions of tracks from their then-unreleased Dahmer album, along with some out-of-print tracks from the Grim Reality album.

Macabre is a term applied to a type of artistic or literary works, characterized by a grim or ghastly atmosphere.
The typical form which the allegory takes is that of a series of pictures, sculptured or painted, in which Death appears, either as a dancing skeleton or as a shrunken, shrouded corpse, to people representing every age and condition of life, and leads them all in a dance to the grave.
Macabre themes are often preoccupations in the Goth subculture.

Prophet is a good word for a band's name as it implies that the band's music is a prophecy itself, that there is some importance that is going to pass to the listener through the very music.
Your band name should be infinitely comfortable, a group of words, or a single word that rolls off the tongue, rings the air around you and makes you feel psyched about the music to come.
Because people are not exposed to your joke for as long as you may be in the band, you might have only one second, one instance to grab their attention- they may not get it.

There’s a gamut of directions in the band’s set; in short, it’s overtly synthetic music that’s as complex as a day in the meat world.
A focused lyrical outlook is as important to the band’s crisp style as its revved-up synth is. Although the big back beats and synthetic melodies will probably goad listeners into dancing sooner or later, there’s not much to celebrate in the band’s lyrics.
The Four Horsemen may be breathing down the band’s neck for all the grim vitriol it spews on this album, but the band’s given up on change-the-world declarations and optimism.
