Macdonald Campus, while always a part of McGill, has, by reason of physical separation from the main campus, provided instruction in the basic sciences by its own specialized staff.
Macdonald's Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is unique among faculties of agriculture in North America in being part of a largely privately endowed university.
The others - the diploma schools of the NSAC, Macdonald Campus, OAC and the faculties of agriculture of University of Manitoba and University of Saskatchewan - are administratively associated with the faculty.

The fall rush on campus is prompting a call to slow down.
“Speed is a serious issue on campus,” says MacDonald, noting that recent statistics gathered through the campus’s speed watch program show an average of 63 per cent of vehicles on campus travel in excess of the speed limit.
MacDonald says the campus’s first annual safety fair, held recently in convocation mall, helped to illustrate the effects of problems such as speed and alcohol impairment.

Women's education at McGill began in 1884, when Donald Smith (Lord Strathcona) provided funding for separate lectures at the University, given by McGill staff members, for the benefit of women.
RVC’s westernmost wings, the Vaughan wing (built, on the corner of University and Sherbrooke Streets, in 1931) and the Roscoe wing (set further back on University Street in 1964), continued to serve their function as McGill’s only all-female residence.
As time went on, into the 1930s and ‘40s, women students "made a place for themselves on the Campus at large and became active co-educationally," wrote Muriel Roscoe, Warden of RVC from 1940 to 1963.

Wildlife research conducted in the department of Natural Resource Sciences includes the research programs of faculty members for raptor behaviour and ecology, waterfowl behaviour and ecology, fish parasites and ecology and small mammal physiology and ecology.
This research incorporates a wide breadth of wildlife and fish species, and is conducted on campus (e.g., Macdonald Stewart animal holding facilities, Avian science centre), at nearby parks and field stations (e.g., Morgan arboretum, Mont St Hilaire Gault Estate), and at remote, wilderness study sites (e.g., James Bay reservoir, Kluane Lake, Yukon).
As a result of the diversity of research conducted under the wildlife and fisheries umbrella, the certification protocols adopted by the department must be sufficiently malleable to adapt to the unique training requirements presented by different animal research programs.

Canadian Flora is team taught by Professor Martin Lechowicz in Biology, a plant ecologist, and Professor Marcia Waterway in Plant Science (Macdonald Campus), a plant systematist.
Each gives lectures appropriate to their expertise using the video conference facilities so that students on both campuses can participate; students on the Macdonald Campus are enrolled in PLNT 358 instead of BIOL 358.
