The Color Classic was so slow that upon it's release the abacus still held a commanding lead in most benchmark suites, even with the abacus operated orally by quadriplegics.
The original Color Classic power supply gives juice to the hard drive, built-in screen, 3.3v regulator (this thing uses almost no electricity, I'm unsure why the motherboard needs it to boot), and cooling fans.
This color classic now runs with a Power Macintosh 6500/225 motherboard at its heart.

The end of the Classic line in the North American market, the Color Classic shared the motherboard design of the LC II - equally limited in RAM expansion, constricted by a 16-bit data bus, and able to use 16-bit PDS cards designed for the LC.
The Color Classic's claim to fame is a tiny, remarkably crisp 10" (9" viewable) 512 x 384 pixel color monitor - and Apple IIe emulation using a PDS card.
The Color Classic was the first Mac with a built-in color monitor, although the unusual 512 x 384 pixel format size meant many games would not run properly, if at all.

The Macintosh Color Classic has a large cult following here and especially in Japan were clever folks have been able to shoehorn some of the most outrageous bits into their CC's including parts from a G4 Cube.
There is also an LC 550 which is a 33 mhz 030 Mac and what the actual Color Classic II is based upon, I have not seen this board but assume it is very similar to the 525 MB.
This means that you cannot fake someone out by telling them you have an ultra rare 040 powered Macintosh CC since you have this hole in the rear where the old faceplate used to reside.

I've always been curious about Macs (my only experience was with a Mac Classic which I absolutely adored), so it would be awesome if I could combine my IIe with a Mac.
Not all Performas have built in monitors, but there are the lateest model you will be able to use the Apple II card in.
I don't think any particular Macintosh model on your list is best if all you want to do is use the IIe card.

The one I was given yesterday is running system 7.1, has a modem port and a modem (but I cant get it to work) and seems to have all the needed software installed, although its been ages since I messed around with a computer like this..
same reason Im going to get the AST 286 Bravo model 5 (With orange/fl monocrome monitor) that I was given at the same time as the color classic on my network, I was told by somone with skill I respected that it was impossable...but it didnt sound right, and I like a challenge...
