  Apple Macintosh IIci/IIcx User's Log
IIci's have a great design that puts most of the upgrade slots in an easily accessible position with little more than the removal of the top of the case.
This IIci had previously had some sort of expansion card installed, and so there was a card slot cover missing from the back: this made a perfect door for dust bunnies, being as how the hole was like 3 inches by 1 inch or so.
Another time the IIci's browser had a problem with a web page, encountering some 'errors', and informed me about their nature and apologized for not being able to download the entire page (some tiny and inconsequential image gif had failed to load; 99% of the page was onscreen).

Apple Macintosh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Named after the ubiquitous fruit apple 'McIntosh', the original Macintosh was released on January 24, 1984 with the famous 1984 television commercial aired once at the Superbowl, with a series of other advertisements in an expensive campaign.
The Macintosh is regarded as being the first personal computer to popularize the use of the graphical user interface at a time when most computers used an operating system with a command line interface.
The Macintosh's predecessor, the Lisa computer, was introduced in January 1983 for a price of $9,995.00 with many of the GUI-related innovations later seen on the Macintosh.

Macintosh, now known simply as Mac in all official capacities, is a family of personal computers manufactured by Apple Computer, Inc. of Cupertino, California, USA.
Smith's first Macintosh board design was to Raskin's specifications; it had a 64K memory, used the slow Motorola 6809E microprocessor, and had a 256 by 256 fl and white bitmap display.
Existing Macintosh software that had been written for the 68000 series CPUs -- including some large sections of the Mac OS -- were made to run with a software emulator.

Named after a popular type of apple, the McIntosh, the Macintosh was launched in January 1984 with a famous Super Bowl commercial.
The Macintosh was introduced on January 22, 1984, with a famous Super Bowl commercial featuring a female athlete throwing a hammer through a giant TV screen image of a dictator ("Big Brother", alluding to the tyrant character of the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, and vaguely reminiscent of the dominant computer maker at that time: IBM).
The Macintosh system software was a very large amount of complicated code that embodied the Mac's entire set of APIs, including the use of the GUI and file system, and a large amount of this system software was included in the Macintosh's ROM chips.

Things were not all rosy though and while the Mac IIci did allow users to avoid having to pay additional dollars before they could actually use their machine (typically an extra $400 for a video card), the way in which the video system handled memory was slightly underhanded.
With no dedicated video RAM, the IIci shared memory with the main memory and the result was that users ended up with less memory to use on their applications (anywhere from 30Kb to 320Kb depending on screen resolution and colour depth).
Away from the video side of things Apple had given the IIci a tremendous power boost and its performance was 65% better than the Mac IIcx (despite having only moved from a 16MHz system to a 25MHz one).

In a fit of nostalgia, I restored the IIci to near-new condition and put it in a closet for safe-keeping, since I wasn't actually going to use it for anything.
I'd never really use those Macintosh IIcx computers anyway...the cases are nice soft plastic...I had some scrap aluminum, some acrylic sheet, ATX chassis parts, bits of wire, LEDs, bolts, screws, nuts...I could make something that mostly looked like a IIci, but more powerful and somewhat up-to-date.
