Patricia Mackay, 52, of Anysley Gardens, Harlow, said the Nina Mackay Memorial Trophy, introduced by the Davenant Foundation School, in Loughton, was a "fitting tribute" to her daughter and their former pupil.
The trophy will be awarded annually to a student who has devoted their time to serving the community, and will pay tribute to Nina who worked on care in the community projects before joining the Metropolitan Police.
The trophy was presented to student David Clark, by Nina's father and former Barkingside chief superintendent Sid Mackay.

His first Mackay award in 1921 was for his high altitude test flights and establishing a world record altitude of 40,800 feet.
In May, 1922, Lt. Macready and his associate, Lt. Oakley Kelley, received the Mackay trophy for establishment of a world flight endurance record of 35 hours, 18 minutes in the skies over Rockwell Field on North Island.
For their successful nonstop flight across the U.S., Macready and Kelly were awarded the Mackay Trophy for 1923.

The trip to Bueno Aires represented the longest distance performance of its kind on record and won the group the Mackay Trophy in 1938.

I don't know that the MacKays ever adopted the Black Watch or if it could have even been possible to do so as it is a Military tartan that was designed for a Highland regiment.
In this case, it would be inappropriate for others to wear the tartan....though you're free to come up with something similar simply by changing the thread count somewhat, such as by using two red lines instead of three, or a single broader red line where the three are shown.
His mother was a Mackay, reputedly an unmarried servant in the Sutherland estates at the time of his birth, with his father reputedly the Sutherland heir.

Macready was the only pilot in history to win the Mackay trophy three times for his outstanding achievements in aviation.
For this, they received the Mackay Trophy for 1922.
Macready extended the horizons of aviation by being the first pilot to make an emergency parachute jump at night, the first pilot to dust crops from the air, and the first pilot to fly a pressurized aircraft.

 Iven Carl Kincheloe, Captain, United States Air Force
Born at Detroit, Michigan, July 2, 1928, he won fame for piloting the Bell X-2 research rocket plane to a world's record of 126,200 feet on September 7, 1956, and for which he received the Mackay Trophy the next year.
For this achievement be was presented with the Mackay Trophy, as well as another Distinguished Flying Cross, by General Thomas White.
In August 1957, Air Force Chief of Staff General Thomas D. White presented Captain Iven C. Kincheloe with the Mackay Trophy for "the most meritorious flight of the preceding year." A month later Kincheloe was selected as the X-15 project test pilot with Captain Bob White as his alternate.
