On 31 Dec 1931, an RCMP constable investigating a complaint about traplines was shot and seriously wounded by a trapper living west of Fort McPherson, NWT.
The ensuing chase lasted 48 days and covered 240 km in temperatures averaging -40°C, and at its end another policeman was badly wounded and a third, Constable Edgar Millen, had been killed.

Myth Merchant Films wants to dig up Albert Johnson's body from the Aklavik, N.W.T., cemetery in which he is buried and take DNA samples from the corpse to determine his true identity.

Cpl. Robert McDowell died Feb. 20 in Oliver, B.C., at the age of 94.
