Madaba is Famous because of Mosaic’s and specifically a map of the Holy land including all biblical sites that was discovered in 1897 and was originally constructed in AD 560.
Apart from the Mosaic there are some other sites and lots of old houses to see in Madaba and it is a nice town and with some effort (Cleaning it up would be a start) it could be a big tourist destination.
After Madaba we decided to take the Kings highway to Petra which is probably the slowest but also the best one for visiting the sites along the way.
