I recently heard a rumor that the same well known Titanic society is now auctioning off cork from Madeleine Astor's life vest, along with threads from Titanic's carpet, to raise funds for its new museum.
IN MY OPINION, however, tearing apart Madeleine Astor's life vest, no matter what condition it is in, is a far greater desecration of the Titanic than any salvage that has ever been done thus far.
I believe that nothing taken from the Titanic site has ever been torn apart or damaged for the purpose of making money for whatever reason, whether it be a fundraiser or otherwise.
