Isaac Tillery is the originator of the western North Carolina Tillery family of Madison County (Madison County was formed in 1851 from Buncombe and Yancey Counties).
He was born circa 1769 in Virginia, according to the 1850 Federal Census for Madison County, Kentucky.
The 1850 Buncombe County Federal Census indicates that Thomas Tillery was born in Tennessee in 1810 and that Polly Tillery, according to her obituary, was born in 1811 in Warm Springs (now Hot Springs), NC.
