As with Noir, Madlax and Margaret leave the audience questioning to the last minute, and as one piece of the puzzle is shown to the audience a new piece emerges to change the outcome of the series.

Madlax is also more flighty and playful than Mireille ever was, though she is just as professional when it comes down to business.
In fact, Madlax and Margaret don’t even appear in the same episode until the very end of episode 2, and the only factor which seems to link them is common possession of a bizarre picture, so it is not apparent from this volume how their paths are going to cross.

Madlax, a show from the people who brought the world.hack, Tsubasa, and Noir, is about two women, both with memory loss, who are inexorably intertwined with a civil war in a South American-esque country called Gozthsonika.
Madlax, as a character, is very curious about life, and generally engages other characters in conversations about life, as if trying to reclaim some sense of lost humanity, a common trend in the assassin mentality, but none the less interesting.
But there is hope, for the English dub ADV has provided for Madlax is stellar, as each actor sounds as if they take their character and role very seriously, even matching the numerous subtleties of their Japanese counterparts in both emotional inflection and sheer delivery.

Dark, brooding, and filled with tortured characters who were interesting for not only in the ways that they could move, but for the ways that they couldn’t it was an amazing anime to watch, assuming that you didn’t become too impatient.
Madlax for all intents and purposes, is both the thematic and spiritual prodigy of Noir – the animation is a carbon copy, the main show focuses on strong but tortured women, and uh, features assassins.

The most important distinction between “Noir” and “Madlax” is that, in the former series, Mireille (the blonde assassin) and Kirika (the amnesiac schoolgirl) meet and team up right off the bat in order to discover their linked pasts and identities.
The Madlax character design, the general animation, and the music are key to this series’s draw--“Madlax”, like “Noir” and the “James Bond 007” franchise, makes assassination glamorous.

Into the fray comes the mercenary assassin Madlax, a beautiful blonde woman who is apparently heavily trained in firearms, but may be seen in combat wearing impractical field equipment, like evening gowns, while decimating entire units of professional soldiers.
The big difference is that unlike Noir, Madlax fails to capitalize on its biggest assets, instead delivering a lackluster drama that is sluggishly paced and schizophrenic.
The "action" is so over-the-top as to cross the line between cool and stupid; one scene has us believe that Madlax hugging her semi-auto and firing a burst from it (without aiming, mind you) signifies the off-screen demolition of a fully loaded attack helicopter.
