Perhaps the most famous member of this clan was Toshiie Maeda (1538-1599), son of Toshimasa.
Toshinaga participated in the Battle of Sekigahara, and built Kanazawa Castle.

Toshiie was born in Arako Village in the Aichi District of Owari province and was the 4th son of Maeda Toshiharu.
The Maeda fief was valued at roughly 445,000 koku by 1595, and Toshiie was named one of the five regents responsible for keeping the realm in order while Toyotomi Hideyori came of age.
Toshinaga was the eldest son of Maeda Toshiie and was known at first as Magashiro.

Maeda Toshinaga, his son succeeded his father as the 2nd Lord of Kaga and completed the expansion of Kaga Han.
Maeda was rewarded additional land and became one of the most powerful Daimyo in Japan who controlled what is today Ishikawa and Toyoma Prefectures and had a revenue of 1.195.000 Koku.

 Two Gardens in Kanazawa
The answer to this technical riddle is that in 1632 the Maeda lords brought water here from a 10 kilometer distant river, the Saigawa, whose bed is again 50 meters higher than the hill of Kenrokuen.
It was established as the private garden of Wakita Naokata, chamberlain to the Maedas (the daimyo of Kanazawa), and several generations of Wakitas poured their efforts into perfecting this small universe.
The garden's name was derived from Gyokusenin, the wife of the second Maeda lord, who acted as patroness to the garden's founder.

Mikurumayama has a main pole.It is very special.And the period which these floats were made are clear.They were repaired with the technique of Takaoka metal and Takaoka japan ware craftsmen in the Edo period.

During August he established a council of regents (Tokugawa Ieyasu, Meada Toshiie, Môri Terumoto, Ukita Hideie, and Uesugi Kagekatsu) to rule while Hideyori came of age as well as a team of five administrators (bugyo) to handle domestic matters.
The war in Korea was called off and the peninsula abandoned; Maeda Toshiie died in 1599 and within two years of Hideyoshi's death the council of regents would be broken and Tokugawa Ieyasu would rise supreme, assuming the title of shôgun in 1603.

In Tensho13(1585),Hideyoshi Toyotomi advanced on the castle with a large force of men.Narimasa had no choice but surrender as he was facing an overwhelming force.Hideyoshi allowed Narimasa to retain only the Niikawa−county area and the rest was given to Toshinaga Maeda.
 Keicho2(1597)saw Maeda’s eldest son Toshimasa take command of the castle.His father’s death soon brought him back to Kanazawa Castle, where he remained until Kencho10.During his absence,a deputy castellan was assigned to the castle when he returned to Toyama,he set about improving the fortress.
 However,in Kencho14 the castle was destroyed by fire and Toshinaga had a new castle built in Takaoka.

 KANAZAWA
The Honda Museum has an excellent collection of treasures that belonged to the Honda family, who were the most important advisors of the Maeda family.
The most famous item in its collection is the "Marasame Tea Jar", which is better known as the "50,000 Koku Tea Jar".
When lord Maeda Toshinaga offered his vassal Honda Masashige 50,000 koku of land in return for his services, Honda instead asked for this bowl.

 Oyama Shrine, Kanazawa
Oyama Shrine was dedicated to Lord Toshiie Maeda, the first lord of the Kaga Clan.
It was first built on Mount Utatsu in 1599 by order of the second Lord Toshinaga Maeda and moved to its present location by later lords.
The grounds include a garden designed by Enshu Kobori with islets and bridges shaped like harps and lutes.

He was granted use of the Toyotomi name by Hideyoshi and given Kita no shô in Echizen, for a time serving Kobayakawa Hideaki when the latter was transferred there in 1598.

Kurôjurô retreated after exchanging captured horses and men with Nobunaga.
