Mafalda (born in 1957) is the name of a fictional little girl, heroine of the comic strip of the same name created in 1962 as well as a series of animated cartoons, and a 1982 movie.
The character of Mafalda — whose name was inspired by David Viñas's novel Dar la cara — and a few others, were created in 1962 for a promotional cartoon that was meant to be published in the daily Clarín.
A running gag that Quino often used, was Mafalda asking something in the first panel, and in the next, you see her running from the pharmacy with some pills.
