 Attractions: Magersfontein Battlefield
At the battle of Magersfontein on 11 December 1899, General Cronjé and his Boer troops defeated the British army, who had been sent to capture the railway to the north and to relieve the besieged Kimberley.
The display is accompanied by a vivid audiovisual re-telling of the battle, where, with the boom of the canon, the crack of the rifles, and the talking, shouting and screaming of the men, you feel as if you are in the trenches and in the battlefield.
The view that the British army would have had as they approached the koppie at Magersfontein on 11th December 1899, unaware that the Boers were laying in wait for them in trenches at the base of the hill.
