Single bullet theory - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The single bullet theory (also known as the magic bullet theory by the majority of critics and conspiracy theorists) is the crucial element of the Warren Commission theory that only one assassin was responsible for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
This abrasion collar was caused by the bullet's scraping the margins of the skin on penetration and is characteristic of a gunshot wound of entrance.
The single bullet theory was parodied in a 1992 episode of the sitcom Seinfeld, in which baseball player (and guest star) Keith Hernandez allegedly spat a "magic loogie" at Kramer and Newman.

The magic bullet theory is the theory that one single bullet inflicted eight wounds on both Kennedy and Texas governor John Connally.
With his choice in weapon and bullet it is fair to believe one bullet could pass through the bodies of two men, sitting relatively close, and still impact as much damage as it had.

 Bartrcops JFK
It is often called the "magic bullet" or the "pristine bullet." This essay shows that both these terms are false and highly misleading.
There is a widespread belief among JFK researchers that after Dr. Finck was unable to use his finger to probe the path of the bullet that entered JFK's neck/upper back, that was the end of it, and any connection to the wound in the lower throat was tenuous and guesswork.
If the throat wound couldn't have been the exit for a bullet that entered the back, then it was probably an entrance would from a frontal shot, which implies a shooter in front of the limo which implies conspiracy.

Then, the bullet heads downward at an angle of 27 degrees, shattering Connally’s fifth rib and leaving from the right side of his chest—wounds four and five.
This single bullet explanation is the foundation of the Warren Commission’s claim of a lone assassin.
And once you conclude the magic bullet could not create all seven of those wounds, you have to conclude there was a fourth shot and a second rifleman.

 Magic Bullet Theory
The first theory concerning the media's effect on society is known as the Magic Bullet or Hypodermic Needle Theory.
The Magic Bullet Theory, which originated in the 1920's and 1930's, proposed that as an audience, we were all passive and equally susceptible to media messages.
This theory has also been known as the Hypodermic Needle Theory, using the metaphor as a reference to how the media are assumed to be injecting all audience members with the same message, causing a uniform thinking among them that the author of the media text intended.

The original "magic bullet" of German folklore, which was enchanted and could not miss its mark, made its debut into the wider European consciousness as a feature of Carl Maria von Weber's ghostly opera Der Freischütz, first performed in Berlin in 1821.
The phrase is used disparagingly by conspiracy theorists to describe the single bullet theory of the John F. Kennedy assassination.
"Magic bullet principle" is another term for the hypodermic needle model, a theory in communication research which says all media audiences receive and process media messages in the same way.

 "Magic"???
The HSCA panel agreed that the bullet track from back to front (their assumption of the trajectory -- back TO front) was upward at an angle of eleven degrees.
The second factor suggesting an "upward" trajectory of the proposed back-to-front "back wound" is that the abrasion collar on the wound -- the darkest area visible -- is on the bottom, and a wound's abrasion collar is a signature of the entry angle.
We are thus asked to believe that a bullet came down at 17 degrees, entered a person sitting in a backward slope of about 5 degrees, but the bullet left an abrasion collar at the bottom of the wound and created an 11-degree upward/forward track.

Warren Commission Gropes Toward Single Bullet Theory
Therefore, if Governor Connally was in the path of the bullet it would have struck him and (probably) caused the wounds he sustained in his chest cavity.
Strong indications that this occurred are provided by the facts that (1) the bullet recovered from Governor Connally's stretcher does not appear to have penetrated a wrist and (2) if the first bullet did not hit Governor Connally, it should have ripped up the car, but apparently did not.
Since the bullet recovered from the Governor's stretcher does not appear to have penetrated a wrist, if he was hit by this (the first) bullet, he was probably also hit by the second bullet.

LP News September 1999 - The Forum: The dangers of the "magic bullet" theory
If you're like most Libertarians, you've probably formulated your own "magic bullet" theory -- the one thing the Libertarian Party should be doing that would result in immediate or near-immediate success.
The assumption behind Libertarian magic bullet theories is that they are simple to execute (hence the moniker "magic bullet"), would produce unprecedented positive results, and have never been considered before or obviously someone in the party would have tested the theory prior to now.
The problem with that theory is: Who is going to decide what that "one" issue is? Every Libertarian has their own pet issue or two that they consider most important.

The "magic-bullet" theory was essential to the commission's conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald was a lone assassin.
The "magic-bullet" theory's importance to the conclusion that Oswald alone killed Kennedy lay in the number and timing of the shots fired at the president's motorcade.
That left just one more bullet, but it was known that Kennedy also had been struck in the lower part of the back of his neck and that Connally had suffered wounds to his back, right wrist and left thigh.

The theory of Kennedy's assassination that helped restore public confidence was the brainchild of a little-known Philadelphia prosecutor, Arlen Specter.
He also showed how various holes in the president's shirt, which critics said disproved that theory, could have been made by a man who was rising up and down with the car.
Later mockingly renamed "The Magic Bullet" theory, Specter's brainchild was widely credited with the fact that the Kennedy assassination led to no retaliatory wars.

His theory is important, because it "explains" how only one shooter could have caused all these wounds, which is necessary to pin the tail on the donkey, one Lee Harvey Oswald.
A public not as naive as the Warren Commission believed; they knew when a bullet fired from a high-powered rifle hit something, that something moved in the same direction as the bullet was travelling.
The fact that the government holds records it will not release for another twenty years accentuates the obvious, that if agents of the United States government were not responsible for the assassination itself, they are at least complicit in it by their obstruction of justice.
