 Magna may produce vehicles in India
The world's largest automobile contract manufacturer, Magna Steyr, part of Magna International, has said it is in talks with Japanese car-maker Nissan and French company Citroen, to explore the possibility of producing their models in India.
Magna Steyr, a $5 billion company, operates out of 20 locations globally and employs over 11,000 people, producing nearly 1000 cars a day.
Magna Steyr is controlled by a holding company, Magna International, which is based in Ontario.

Magna International Inc., the Canadian supplier that acquired Steyr-Daimler-Puch in 1998, will build a new assembly line in an existing facility in Graz as part of the $450 million project.
Magna Steyr's existing paint shop and shell construction facilities will be modified for the X3 project, which will require some 2,500 production employees.

Manfred Remmel, Magna Steyr president and chief executive officer, said during a recent interview that the company's long-term strategy calls for utilizing the expertise developed as a contract assembler in Europe in North America as well.
In fact, Magna Steyr reorganized its North American business at the beginning of the year to prepare for the day it assembles vehicles in the U.S., even though it doesn't have any signed contracts or a factory yet, said August Hofbauer, the executive vice president in charge of Magna Steyr North America.
