Amendments to Item 10, Part 1 of Schedule 4 of the Regulations have also been made to allow the use of additional amino acids in listable medicines.
These changes result in the following substances being made listable: calcium diglutamate, glutamic acid, glutamic acid hydrochloride, magnesium diglutamate, methionine, monoammonium glutamate, monopotassium glutamate, monosodium glutamate.
Please note that these amino acids and salts are listable in the L form only.

The Co-operative Group has taken action over certain commonly used flavour enhancers which are often used to boost the savoury flavour of products, masking the use of often cheaper ingredients.
These are Glutamic acid (E620), Monosodium glutamate (E621), Monopotassium glutamate (E624), Calcium diglutamate (E623), Monoammonium glutamate (E624), and magnesium diglutamate (E625).
All of these have been banned from Co-op Brand food products.
