 Comic Book Movies -- Magneto
The Magneto film will star an actor much younger than the one we're used to seeing, but that doesn't mean that the man who originated the role for the big screen is on the outs.
The professor meets Magneto after the war, and while they bond over the realization that they are alike in their special powers, their differences soon turn them into enemies.

 Ferri-magnetic film frequency modulator - Patent 5168248
A ferri-magnetic film frequency modulator as claimed in claim 1, wherein said DC magnetic field is applied perpendicular to said ferri-magnetic material film and perpendicular to said input strip electrode and to said output strip electrode also, so as to form said magneto-static wave of a magneto-static forward volume wave.
This magneto-static wave is propagated through the YIG film 11 perpendicular to the electrodes 9, 10, and, as a result, a frequency modulated high frequency output electro-magnetic wave, which is converted from the magneto-static wave phase-modulated during the propagation and arriving at the output strip electrode 10, is derived therefrom.
In the situation such that the film of ferri-magnetic material, for example, YIG, which is magnetized by the application of the DC magnetic field, is further applied with the high frequency electro-magnetic wave through the input strip electrode, the magnetic coupling is caused in the ferri-magnetic material film and, as shown in FIGS.

The Superhero Hype! Boards - Why is Magneto....
Magneto should be in the third film, Just not a BIG role.
Also, Magneto is THE X-villian and shouldn't be regulated to just one film.
Magneto wasn't in every comic, but he was certainly one of the main villains, the longest running, the one with the most ties to the X-Men themselves, and the most credible choice (as opposed to Ancient Egyptian mutant-cyborgs, Alien-knockoffs, demons, time-travellers, and tv moguls from alternate dimensions) for the more 'realistic' X-Movieverse.

Sir Ian McKellen may not be brought back to play the role of Magneto -- a character he depicted in the first two X-Men films.
In its present conception, the story would expand the beginning of the first X-Men film, which showed a boy Magneto bending a fence at a concentration camp.
The movie would show Magneto dealing with his parents' deaths and developing his powers.

X-Men - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In addition, the first film featured a scene in which Senator Robert Kelly questioned whether mutants should be allowed to teach children in school, mirroring such debates as that over Section 28, in which Sir Ian McKellen (who played Magneto in the film) was involved.
A controversial move was to have Professor X relocate to space in 1986 to be with his beloved Lilandra, Majestrix of the Shi'ar Empire, making Magneto the head of the X-Men.
This was illustrated in a scene of the second X-Men film, directed by openly gay director Bryan Singer in which Bobby Drake "came out" as a mutant to his parents.

Turner's intent for the film is to examine Magneto's "psychological roots".
With that in mind, that would make the film, MAGNETO a 'period prequel' to the X-MEN movies.
Since a major bulk (if not all) of the film will take place during this period, it is doubtful that actor Sir Ian McKellen will return for the film, though there are still possible ways of having the actor in portions of the film.

 AbstractBookM.html
Nonlinear magneto-optical Kerr effect (NOMOKE), manifesting itself in the DC magnetic field induced variations of the reflected optical second harmonic (SHG) intensity, is used as a probe of the magnetic properties of Co nanocrystals in the Co-Cu granular films.
The linear magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) spectra are measured in the range of 1.2 - 3.6 eV for the geometry of the transversal Kerr effect as the AC-magnetic field of 3.0 kOe at the frequency 80 Hz is applied.
The magnetization induced effects in SHG are described by considering the granular film as the effective noncentrosymmetric medium possessing the magnetization dependent surface and bulk dipole nonlinear susceptibilities.

Questions on the latter will be addressed very well by the optics members of the network but the magnetics community will be able to address the all-important materials and material parameter questions that surround any attempt, by the optics group, to create magneto-optic nonlinear guiding structures.
Seagate recognise that the second-harmonic magneto-optic effect is an important new tool for probing the magnetic structure of interfaces and are very supportive of this work.
The basic problem with linear tools is that they probe film-averaged features whereas, even now, it is very clear that the nonlinear Kerr effect reveals the presence of surfaces and interfaces, even if they are deep within a film structure.

What If … Magneto And Professor X Had Formed The X-Men Together? Review - Silver Bullet Comics
A Magneto on Xavier’s side is a Magneto softened up and toothless, and (as Ian McKellen captured so wonderfully on film) while Magneto could befriend other mutants, he’d never give up his agenda of domination, not settling for co-operation.
Inexplicable changes to several characters don’t seem to relate to Magneto’s decision to stand down, and by the end of the story we arrive at virtually the same place as current X-continuity, which isn’t very awesome at all.
That’s not what it means now, though, when Magneto’s corruption and betrayal has been elevated to newly evil pinnacles by Morrison so recently.

Some filming information has been revealed with Bryan Singer announcing that he fiomed in Vancouver as he needed the bigger soundstages that were available in Vancouver, one of the reasons being there is snow in the final act.
Either way, X2 isn't the most fun place to be right now, the facts so far: Halle's walking after this one, expect another X movie before the suits do what they should've done to begin with, and give Wolverine his own film.
We tried to incoporate these things into X2, but there was just too much going on in the film already and had we added all of the scenes that we wanted to add, the film would have ended up being 4 hours long.

Double Articulation: The Doctor Doom Effect: Tim Story’s Fantastic Four (2005) and Four Super-Franchise Dilemmas
Among recent films, the most effective screen villains are either minimally or austerely “costumed” (Magneto, William Stryker, Lady Deathstrike) or else they wear “costumes” that reference an entirely filmic set of frightening images.
Mainstream film audiences generally expect their adventure pictures to have narrative closure, and only in exceptional cases are studios prepared to risk frustrating that expectation by creating open-ended adventures.
I want to approach this question circuitously, because even though Doom is the most obvious problem, his weakness as an antagonist is symptomatic of the film’s failure to overcome a larger set of challenges that face every superhero movie that is intended as either a stand alone feature or the first in a series.

Similar effects also occur in transmission though one usually needs to have a thin film to see these since most magnetic materials are opaque in regions where they are magneto-optically active.
The effect is simple and occurs for radiation incident in the P-plane (E-vector parallel to the plane of incidence) or the S-Plane (E-vector perpendicular to the plane of incidence).
In the longitudinal case the magnetisation vector is in the plane of the surface and parallel to the plane of incidence.

In an interview with Zap2it.com on Sunday (April 13), producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirms that she wants to see a spin-off live action film of "Wolverine" -- played by Hugh Jackman -- and possibly the bad-guy Magneto, who is played by Ian McKellen.
The first film broke all July box office records when it opened in 2000, earning $54.5 million opening weekend, and racking up $180 million worldwide throughout its run, the producers say.
Singer, who says he has not yet signed the deal for a third film in the series, also says he knows nothing about any spin-off projects at this time.
