The Magus was the mastermind of the events of the Infinity War crossover, in which he obtained several Cosmic Cubes and created doppelgängers of numerous superheroes and of Thanos.
The Magus was absorbed into Warlock's Soul Gem at the end of the Infinity War, but eventually reappeared, this time menacing the new Captain Marvel.

After Warlock absorbed his own soul when he was supposed to become the Magus, he gained some of the Magus' powers and knowledge.
Warlock figured out the Magus' plan to get the Infinity Gauntlet (the greatest plan I have ever seen in comics, the Magus even played he abstract beings) and along with Thanos devised a counterplan.

In Understanding Comics, Scott McCloud suggested that simplified, "iconic" characters facilitate audience identification more than realistically rendered ones, and indeed - though he showed "cartoony" characters as examples - it's odd how easily here one is pulled into empathizing with the travails of One Bad Day in a nameless chap's life.
It's a very strange comic, and just the place to hop onto the Malcy Duff bandwagon, as this guy's a cult hero in the UK scene and not very well known here.
The idea is you bring together anybody curious about drawing their own comics, set up a theme (the title) and everybody draws a page.
