As a Maharashtrian we will definitely get a dealership provided that we are competent enough (Knowledge, money, muscle and an attractive showroom to display all Kinetic/Bajaj Tempo Products).

I have been born and brought up as a maharashtrian and spend good 30 years of my life in Maharashrta and never heard of this "naughty joke" about Shivaji's father or origin.
Of course, if he did have an informant who was Maharashtrian and told him such naughty jokes, I doubt Laine would say his informant's name publicly.
Now, it may well be that of 80 million people, all are in lockstep conformity and *no* Maharashtrians have ever uttered any such jokes.

Actually yhe BSE would not exist except for the Gujuratis and marwaris and others that form the trading backbone that Bombay represents.
I have often pondered - if Maharashtrians were so great, why were they not abvle to do the same a lot earlier than the Gujuratis, Parsis, Iranis etc.?
Maharashtrians have indeed made large contributions to India.
