Yes, I was here when the intensity 7 earthquake shook Batanes on July 16, 2000 and put the island into the national scene for the first time, when Sen. Orlando Mercado and a group of mediamen came a day after the earthquake that caused the cathedral’s belfry to fall.
I have realized Batanes is not only a place with the strongest typhoons but the strongest earthquakes as well.
