A translator employed by San Diego's Titan Corp. was beheaded in Iraq yesterday by insurgents who also beheaded a Turkish contractor working at a U.S. air base.
A videotape posted on a Web site used by Islamic militants showed the executions of Luqman Mohammed Kurdi Hussein, a native of Dahuk in the Kurdish region of Iraq, and Maher Kemal, a contractor at the al-Bakr air base north of Baghdad.
According to the al-Sunna group's Internet postings, Kemal was taken captive on the highway between Mosul and Baghdad Oct. 8.

A group linked to Al-Qaeda has put a video on the internet of the beheading of two men it identifies as a Turkish contractor and an Iraqi Kurdish translator, it says worked with US forces in Iraq.
An internet statement signed by the Army of Ansar al-Sunna said Maher Kemal, a Turk taken captive between Mosul and Baghdad was killed after saying he was a contractor who worked on American projects near¡¡Baghdad.
Another statement said the beheaded Kurdish translator is Lukman Hussein, a member of Massoud Barzani's Kurdistan Democratic Party.

Al-Zarqawi’s Jama’at al-Jihad wal-Tawhid posted videos on the internet of the executions of Murat Yuce, an employee of Bilintur, a Turkish company, and Durmus Kumdereli, a Turkish truck driver.
In October 2003, Maher Kemal, a Turkish contractor, and Ramazan Elbu, another Turkish truck driver, were executed by another al-Zarqawi linked group, Jaysh al-Ansar al-Sunna.
While the video of Elbu’s death was released on the website of Jaysh al-Ansar al-Sunna, the kidnappers identified themselves as belonging to the Qaqa’ Brigade of Jama’at al-Jihad wal-Tawhid, underlining the close link between the two groups.
