Counties in the southern part of the state that were not a part of the Cincinnati-Hamilton metropolitan area that grew the most were Pike (13.7%), Adams (12.3%), and Highland (11.4%).
Counties in the Cincinnati-Hamilton metropolitan area, and their growth rates, are Warren (23.0%), Clermont (15.3%), Brown (15.1%), Butler (12.1%), and Hamilton (-1.7%).
Counties on interstate highways had only a slightly higher growth rate than other counties that were not on the interstate system.

Mahoning County is barely keeping its financial head above water and the commissioners have appealed to all departments to hold the line on spending.
There have been layoffs in county government, a federal judge is putting the squeeze on the commissioners and the sheriff with regard to the operation of the county jail and there are agencies, such as the board of elections, that have legitimate needs for more money to provide services mandated by state and federal laws.
The commissioners subsequently increased the allocation after the county's general fund was bolstered with the $7.3 million that was borrowed to operate the jail and $1.7 million in additional revenue from real estate taxes, sales tax, interest income and final payments from the federal government for prisoners who were housed in the county jail.

In the 1922 Census of Slovak People Living in Mahoning County, a list of 276 different Slovak surnames in the Lansingville area are noted.
The parish grew so rapidly that the church was found to be too small to serve its needs and on June 18, 1925, a new church of red brick with sandstone trimming was begun to replace the wooden church.

Judge Beth A. Smith was first elected Judge of the Mahoning County Domestic Relations Court in November of 1996.
In November of 1988, Judge Smith became the first woman elected as a Judge in the history of Mahoning County when she was elected as a Judge of the Mahoning County Area Court, initially assigned to Sebring.
Judge Smith graduated from South Range High School in 1974 and she obtained her B.A. Degree from The Ohio State University in 1978.
