 ToothyWiki: MegaTokyo
Piro is familiar with this - so either he's met this character online and the avatar she used made it surprising that Miho turned out to be female; or he's heard of these legendary hacker/s, and is surprised that she turns out to be a high-school girl.
It's a pencil drawn webcomic, which started off as pure gaming jokes, had the main characters (who are the artist and co-author) sneak into a convention, get drunk, and flown to Japan.
The art in Megatokyo is a good example of its style, but the plot is messy and can't decide what it wants to be, the dialogue is for the most part bland, the jokes poor, and the whole thing seems to be Mary-Sue-esque wish-fulfilment on the cartoonists' parts.

 COMICON.com: MEGATOKYO'S FRED GALLAGHER: PART 2
There are seven main female characters, and this is quite deliberate - each one has a specific thing they represent, and these kind of 'stock' types are very common in visual novels and dating sim games.
Largo really wanted it to be more of a one shot here, one shot there kind of strip.
FG:Megatokyo is the story of two vastly different characters - Piro, an avid anime/manga/dating sim fan, and Largo, a hard core gamer and l33t h4x0rm4st3r - who fly to Japan on a whim and get stuck there, unable to afford tickets home.

Anime News Network - Megatokyo (online comic / manga)
Largo and Piro, the main characters, end up in Tokyo with no way of returning back the the U.S. With a little help (and lots of ammunition and weapons of all sorts) they may return to the States.
Plot Summary: Megatokyo begins at a gaming con, but, that's not the whole story.

 Pam's Book Log
The titular Viscount is named "Piro." This caused some unfortunate cognitive dissonance, since I associate that name with one of the main characters of Megatokyo, and Piro-the-Tiassa is nothing whatsoever like Piro-the-webcomic-character.
Brust introduces a boat-load of characters, most of whom do nothing at all in the book apart from traveling from Point A to Point B, for various values of A and B. That's not to say it's a bad book, not by a long shot.
I doubt Brust could write a bad book if he tried.

Ayato Kamina- Rahxephon; Normally, main characters in mecha shows are amorphous jerks who tend to just react to events around them and act angsty.
For starters, he's relentless pursue of martials arts gave us the very attractive female Ranma (Niangnichuan anyone?), he has no qualms whatsoever in trading in his son in marriage for a piece of fish (or pancake cart for that matter) and he's futile attempts to escape the clutches of his perverse master.
Akito Tenkawa- Martian Successor Nadesico; He's just some nice guy who would rather cook than be an ace pilot, and he fits well in his crew of weidoes and romantic interests.

What you see today is the final product of how Fred Gallagher would do each episode of Megatokyo; which follows the lives of its two main characters: Piro and Largo.
Sara, better known as Seraphim in Megatokyo is said by Fred Gallagher as being very supportive of him in his goals.
Through out the set backs that Fred Gallagher has gone through with Megatokyo, he has pulled through not only for himself, but the faithful readers and fans of his web-comic.

 RagnaInfo.net :: View topic - Fate/Stay Night
What kicks ass about this is that, along with Tsukihime, the main characters aren't really what you'd expect in an H Game.
Satsuki fans are clamoring up to now for a good ending for her (she was, after all, supposedly a major character in Tsukihime the game as well), and even though she lives in the anime, most people want to see Satsuki and Shiki in a relationship s Satsuki remains alive.
These are the scans from Megatokyo about the upcoming anime for Fate/Stay Night, which is a japanese sim game (kinda like those dating sim games, but I wouldn't call F/SN a dating game) by Type/Moon.
