Topic: Majestic (album)

Aerts, Kees - Slices of time - Groove Unlimited
This is gentle stuff, an album for winding down after a stressful day, rather than gearing up for clubbing.
Overall this is a pretty exemplary synth album - well-produced, plenty of informative sleeve notes, varied musical ideas, and a nice balance between the use of concept tracks and a sense of complete musical freedom.
Majestic album of synth layers, melodies and rhythms with loads of great tunes, plenty of development and variety and definitely one for those of you who like it on the melodic side with all those sweeping string synth cords, and flowing layers above dynamic rhythm base that you know and love.

This album is a perfect synthesis of the first phase of Porcupine Tree Music, combining tracks of The Sky Moves Sideways, Up the Downstair and On the Sunday of Life, beside incorporating some of the album Signify.
The two rockers of the album, beyond the supreme Paranoid Android itself, it’s the first track Airbag which presents a very catchy guitar riff and a great bass work and the almost punky Electioneering which could be a song taken from their previous albums.
Mozart presence in the album is also patented in the great A Fool’s Paradise, another highlight, with the classical composer’s musical arrangements making the final bridge of the track and preceded by great and strong melody reinforced tremendously by a well-orchestrated chorus and with the powerful paced drumming.

New Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock J
Through the years, the band's sound evolved to encompass far more: After three albums they became a duo and esentially did away with vocals, and released another string of four albums for the Island label that are monuments of inventiveness, although seldom fully appreciated by those who cut their teeth on the first three.
Their best album in many years, it is a return to their progressive years, it even includes an improv with some orchestra members, reminding to their early 70's releases.
This album was released in April, 2005 on the Russian MALS label for distribution in Russia and CIS states, and is also distributed by Musea Records for Europe and Kinesis Records in the United States.
