  Major League Soccer (MLS)
Major League Soccer's on-field product is proving itself in various international competitions for club and country.
Major League Soccer has allowed the sport to enjoy unprecedented success during its first eight campaigns on the field, in the stands, on television and among the League's numerous commercial affiliates.
The league's goal is to become the world's most competitive and prestigious soccer leagues as well as one of America's premier sports and entertainment properties.

Major League Soccer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Major League Soccer (MLS) is the top soccer league in the United States in the American Soccer Pyramid, sanctioned by the professional division of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF or U.S. Soccer), a member of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
MLS was formed on December 17, 1993, in fulfillment of U.S. Soccer's promise to FIFA to establish a "Division One" professional football league in exchange for the staging of the FIFA World Cup USA 1994 in the United States.
However this is a considerable expense to the league, and to provide better facilities as well as to control revenue for the stadium, a major goal of MLS management is to build its own stadiums, which are often called "soccer-specific stadiums".

Major League Soccer (MLS) is the highest level soccer league in the United States sanctioned by the professional division of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF or U.S. Soccer), a member of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
The quality of play in MLS has improved since the league was founded in 1996 and the success of the United States Men's National Team in the FIFA World Cup 2002 Korea/Japan, reaching the quarter-final round for the first time, has been partly attributed to the experience gained by playing in MLS.
As a result, most of the players in the league are from the United States but some are renowned international players, with Latin America and the Caribbean being the home region for the largest number of international players.

The Year in American Soccer, 2002
Major League Soccer benefited from a fresh crew of young talented players and nail biting divisional races to produce their most exciting season yet and enjoyed a marked rebound in attendance, and scored a coup with their purchasing of television rights to the next two World Cups, an important strategic initiative for the long term.
The league began to feel the effects of WUSA competition this year, as attendance fell substantially to 101,594, or 479 fans per game, and ten teams folded after the season, but this was part of an expected adjustment process.
League attendance was 668,577 for the season, for an average of 5,065 per game, a slight increase from the previous season, but attendance was expected to improve the following season as the best of the WISL teams joined the circuit.

On the field this season, there has been little outstanding in terms of play although the league ticked nicely along for another year, which for football in America is in itself a kind of triumph.
Inside the stadium there were noticeable sections of both fans, Kansas City having brought more than they brought to their last MLS final in 2000 and an impressive mass of DC fans and banners behind one of the goals.
Big cities such as Houston and Seattle were more obvious candidates for league expansions, but in the end Jose Vergara's charm, pushiness and his Mexican millions were too much for a financially struggling league to resist.
